I had to share this recipe to coincide with the post about the Ketogenic Diet. It’s not too much different than my regular recipe of the morning tea I usually have, except there is a bit more fat in this recipe.

Keto Coffee or Tea
A great start to your day as either a coffee or tea.
- 2 cups coffee/tea
- 2 tbsp grass fed unsalted butter or Paleo butter
- 2 tbsp organic coconut oil or MCT oil
- 2 tsp carob mix (carob powder, ginger, cloves, cinnamon, mace)
- 2 tbsp gelatin powder
Brew 2 cups worth of coffee or tea into a large container using your favorite method. Try to choose something large enough to eliminate spilling when it gets blended. (I put my immersion blender cup in the sink to avoid spilling.)
Once steeped, add your butter, coconut oil, carob mix, gelatin powder and use your immersion blender to emulsify the mixture moving the immersion blender up and down to get everything mixed. This usually takes about 50-60 seconds to get a nice frothy top.
Pour into your favorite mug and enjoy.
To just make one cup of coffee or tea, halve the ingredients and follow the instructions as listed.
This is a simple recipe, but don’t let that fool you. It tastes great, fuels you during the day, and has tons of additional health benefits.
Keto-proof coffee/tea goes by a lot of names but it was originally adapted from Tibetan and Ethiopian butter coffees from hundreds of years ago. Keep in mind that the name has become mainstreamed and is used to describe any cup of coffee/tea with fat in it.
