If you are interested in smooth skin, this could help.
Using a facial scrub as we get older is recommended to slough off old dry skin cells and bring new cells to the surface. Leaving a nice smooth surface for you to apply your moisturizer and other skin care products.
Try to stay out of direct sunlight for a day or two after using this on your face as your new skin cells will be very susceptible to burning with just a little sun.
Homemade Face and Body Scrub
Treat yourself once a week to a mini-spa at home with this scrub.
- 1/2 Cup Coarse White sugar
- 1/2 Cup Coarse Brown Sugar
- 1/3 Cup Coconut Oil (could use avocado or olive oil instead)
- 2 Tbsp Honey
- 5-10 Drops Essential Oil (see suggestions below)
- 1/2 tsp. Vitamin E oil
Mix all ingredients in a small bowl until well combined.
Suggestions for essential oils to use: Lavender, Rosehip, Geranium or another scent you really like.
Put a small amount of the scrub in your hands and apply to your face and neck using a circular motion, being very careful not to scrub too vigorously. Making sure to avoid the eye area completely as this skin is very delicate and shouldn't be exfoliated with any scrub. Only go as far as your cheek (orbital) bone - this will help guide you as to where to stop.
Rinse with warm water then once all scrub is removed, splash with cool water - this will help close the pores.
You can use this scrub on your whole body too. Make sure to rinse all scrub off completely before towel drying.
Use once a week to help keep your skin nice and smooth.
Store the scrub in a glass container with a lid.
