How much water do you drink?

OK, when I say water, I’m not talking about things made with water per-say, like tea, coffee, sodas (diet or not), or juice, but just water!

Do you know that a person is supposed to drink half their weight in ounces of water per day just to keep hydrated? Well, for a person say 130 lbs., that equates to about 64 oz. of water per day – that’s 8 – 8 oz. glasses of water every single day.

Your body is made up of about 70% water, but your brain is made up of about 90% water! Think about that. If you aren’t getting enough water, it affects the way it all works for you.┬áIf you’re not getting enough water, that will affect the way your body operates, because “every cell” in your body relies on water to function properly.

So, how much water do you drink? Figure it out, because it is crucial to your health and well being.

Now, if you need to lose a bit of weight – water will help. If you have frequent headaches – water will help. If you feel sluggish or have no energy – water will help. If you have problems with constipation – water will help. If you have problems with your immune system – water will help. If you have toxin overload – water will help. If you have skin problems – water will help. If you’re hungry, grab a glass of water instead of food and see if that works for you. If you get leg cramps/pain at night – water will help. If you’re in a bad mood – water can help. Most of all if you want to save money – water will help!

Even though pure water is what your body wants and needs, some people just can’t get that stuff down! Well, there may be a solution to that problem. How about infusing your water with some simple fruits and vegetables to help you drink up more?

You can add a piece of lemon, some cucumber, and a strawberry, let that sit in your glass for a few moments and then drink it. Just keep adding water to the fruit and vegetables throughout the day and you have a drink you’ll be able to tolerate better than just plain old water! Try different combinations in your water to make it interesting. You can use ginger, fresh herbs (think mint, rosemary, thyme, basil, oregano, parsley), lemon, lime, orange, tangerine, celery, cucumber, celery, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, watermelon. Make up your own combinations to get a different flavoured water each day.

Here’s my blend for today – cucumber, lime, and celery. I place it in a litre glass container, cover with filtered water, and put in the fridge to keep it cool and fresh. Each time I fill my glass, I top up the container for the fridge and have lots of water for the entire day.

Please ensure that you are drinking purified water. Not straight out of the tap (unless you have a filtration system attached), as the water we get these days contains so many chemicals and nasty stuff you really don’t want to be drinking it that way! Although the government THINKS it’s doing us a favour, it really isn’t. Toxins like fluoride, chlorine, and other chemicals added to “help”, don’t. They actually cause more problems than you might realize. You may not feel a difference when you begin drinking tap water, but the accumulation of the stuff they put in it will definitely affect you and your health down the road.

We used to just use a Brita filter, then the Zero filter that does about a half gallon of water at a time, but it wasn’t enough for me in particular. A couple of years ago, we put a whole house filtration system in both our homes and I have noticed a tremendous difference in how my body feels. I still don’t drink directly out of the tap, even though it is filtered, but we still use the Brita and Zero filters on the counter to really get rid of the stuff that might linger on. They aren’t all perfect!

We actually have the whole house filtered water, pour that into the Brita, then into the Zero. That way it doesn’t use up the Brita or the Zero Water filters too quickly!

Anyway, think about calculating how much water you need to drink and start doing it. I think, if you’re not already doing it, you will feel a difference in how you and your body feels.
