Must be Fall coming up cause there’s lots of tree fruit out there at the produce stands right now.
Well, pears are no exception and I’ve made a really great butter out of mine. The original recipe comes from Sara at The Organic Dietitian. Hope you enjoy this one too!
Pear Butter - Slow Cooker (AIP, Paleo, Refined Sugar Free)
- 2 lbs. Ripe Pears preferrably organic
- 4 Large Dates pitted
- 1 Tbsp Lemon Juice from a fresh lemon
- 1/4 Cup Filtered Water
- 1/2 tsp. Ground Cinnamon
Wash pears thoroughly. Core and cut into 1 inch pieces.
Place pears in the slow cooker. Add dates, lemon, water, and cinnamon.
Cook on low for 10 hours. (overnight or while you are at work)
After 10 hours use an immersion (hand) blender or masher to puree the cooked pear mixture until it is as smooth as you like.
Cook in the slow cooker for another 2 hours leaving the lid slightly ajar.
If you like your butter really smooth, use your blender to puree the pears to the consistency you like.
Store in air-tight glass container in the fridge for one week, or freeze for up to 3 months.
Recipe NotesGreat recipe to put on your toast, waffles, or pancakes. I'll probably make this in larger batches next time, so I have lots to store and/or give away as gifts.
